With High school and Middle school out on retreats and the sun shining...... 5th, 2nd and 1st grade got to take full advantage of the beautiful day and do PE outside!! Awesome!
Bridges involves students using different pieces of equipment to travel across the room without touching the floor. They have to work together and really help each other out to succeed. 5th grade did this wonderfully well this morning! Well done guys!
As the students understand our protocals better and better, we can start to play more and more advanced tag games. 5th and 4th grade both started playing "Keepers of the Castle" this week, there was a lot of movement and a lot of smiles. 😀
These 1st and 2nd grade students are stretching and strengthening together. Small groups allow each child to have a turn leading a couple of stretches. When strengthening, students may work independently or with a partner. Wall walks are great for building shoulder strength.
Today the 5th graders performed a strengthening skills check up. The students performed a number of different tasks, ranging from simple push ups, to climbing a rope, to performing a wall walk into a handstand. The idea is to check the progress of the students abilities across the school year, we will complete the check up again around the Christmas break and Summer vacation.
We are excited to be starting up our new PE website and blog. We will post short descriptions of what we are doing often and also upload some photos and videos of different activities that we complete during the year. For more photos you should check out the gallery section of the website too.
Have a great day, Yours in Sport, Mr Wright and Ms Spelic |
