Philosophy
We believe strongly that all children need to have plenty of physical activity on a daily basis. In PE we strive to keep all students active, engaged and challenged by offering a wide variety of activities which are age appropriate and which accommodate varied skill levels. We also emphasize the importance of students being able to work well on their own, in pairs and groups and want them to take pride in their group, as well as, individual successes.
Curriculum
Our PE curriculum is designed to insure that students, at all levels, are exposed to a wide variety of movement opportunities which help them understand their own bodies, acquaint them with both familiar and unfamiliar tasks and regularly challenge them to explore both their strengths and areas for growth.
We identify four major categories of skill development –
▪ Body awareness and control
▪ Locomotor skills
▪ Object control
▪ Fitness development
Special Features
Awesome Gym Day (AGD) – Our incentive program for all levels. AGD provides an opportunity for free choice and the use of special equipment including the rings, ropes, ladders, pogo sticks and stilts. An AGD can be earned by a class group that displays frequent positive behaviors, they are then awarded an “Awesome gym day award” and once they have collected a certain amount they can “cash in” their awards for a AGD.
Ticket System – Our classroom management and skills assessment tool. Students collect various colored tickets during class, which indicates specifics of both their behavior and skills.
We hope this clarifies any details which you were wondering about but if you have any other questions please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or [email protected]
