We are now well into our Airtrack unit and the students skills are improving fast. Below is a short video of a 4th grade group showing off their cartwheels, next up round offs. Well done guys Right now the students are using the airtrack in the Activity Room and improving their basketball skills in the Lower Gym. Below see two videos of two different 5th grade classes shooting hoops..... loads of success!! First Grade students have been practicing stretching routines since the start of the year. Beginning in September, individual students began taking turns going to the front of the class and leading a few exercises. Today, small groups of three were given the task of managing their own stretching routines. It was impressive to see how successful so many of them were.
Students in grade 4 and 5 have been playing passing and moving games for the past couple of weeks, they will now try and include some basketball skills in those games. Today we looked at shooting and using the backboard to help our accuracy.
Since October 31st fell during our Fall break, our elementary Halloween celebrations were postponed until Friday, November 4th. A perfect day for free play!
We're back from the October break! Students and teachers were glad to see each other again and there was lots to talk about. The upcoming Halloween celebration is a particularly hot topic. 1st and 2nd Grade students spent some time working with hoops in different ways. One of our favorite challenges is building and crawling through "hula huts." Fantastic teamwork and plenty of fun.
